Spring Show and Sale of of Young Calves

On Wednesday 17th May Harrison & Hetherington Limited held their Annual Spring show and sale of young calves. A large entry of 306 were forward with with one of the best show of calves seen which resulted in a flying trade with 62 different buyers in attendance.  With the excellent calves on offer 28 sold for £500 or more and 76 calves were above the £400 mark.

The Spring Show was kindly sponsored by Genus ABS and expertly judged by Martin Burne who awarded the Champion to TH & PA Johnstone, Westray Farm,  Cockermouth for a strong British Blue Heifer which made £580.  The top price of the day was the Reserve Champion again from Messrs Johnstone which made £590 for a British Blue heifer.  Black and whites continue to be in great demand with new buyers looking for all classes and prepared to give premium prices for them.
